Speaking to everyone = speaking to no-one

“Target audience” is something we constantly hear or see in business growth and marketing content, that I think it’s easy (and common) to bypass its’ importance. Identifying your target audience is literally the foundation of every successful marketing strategy. If you’ve been struggling with getting more customers or consistent sales, it’s very likely that your problem might lie at this foundational step. As it’s been said, “if you’re speaking to everyone, you’re speaking to no-one”. This basically means that if you don’t have a specific customer avatar that your product/service and marketing is directly created to serve, chances are it’s not landing with anyone. The beauty of this very vast internet is that even when you define a target customer in the format of one specific avatar, that avatar will exist out there in the millions. It’s now your job to find them (which becomes 10000x easier when you actually work out who they are!).
