What success means in today's world

I’ve begun to notice a common trend from speaking to my consulting clients, and also catching up with friends. Right now, confusion is rife. What should I be doing with my time? Am I choosing the right path? Am I missing out on an opportunity that’s can change my life? I get it. Everyone is looking for their thing, the thing they’re “meant” to be doing. I also completely relate to it as it’s something I still struggle with too (I have ideas for DAYS), but have had to learn to manually tune into relying on focus as a principle.

I truly believe that success nowadays is more about what you choose to not listen to, than what you do listen to. That’s because we are in an age of INFORMATION OVERLOAD. As great as the internet and social media is, I personally have doubts about whether as humans we were ever supposed to be exposed to this much information (a conversation for another day).

Everyone on the internet will tell you a certain business model is the easiest, the most lucrative, the most beginner-friendly etc. Sometimes because that’s truly what they believe, sometime’s because of ulterior motives (another conversation for another day). I urge you instead to look at it like this: whichever business model best aligns with what you’re both naturally good at AND enjoy - that will be the easiest, most lucrative, most beginner-friendly etc. There is no one size fits all, no matter how people paint it.

Just over 3 months left of the year - choose your thing, and give it a proper shot so you can make a properly informed decision about whether it’s right for you. Then, and only then, will you find out your thing.
