Transitioning to full-time entrepreneurship

What I've learnt..

Long time! And hey to my new subscribers (speaking of which, the power of the internet never fails to amaze me. Howww I’ve been getting new newsletter subscribers despite my lack of consistency is beyond me, but grateful nonetheless!).

I’ve been super quiet on YouTube as life has been life-ing, but I’m looking forward to getting back to filming as soon as possible. On a more positive note, I have been able to achieve a milestone that I’m really excited for - no more corporate career, I’m now full-time in business!

It was NOT an easy decision to make, but after soon to be 2 years of running my business, learning what I’ve learnt, and seeing what I’ve been able to create while doing it alongside a full-time job, I realised I’m only capping myself by staying. If going into full-time business is something you desire one day, my advice would be to get intentional about it i.e. map out your exit plan - how much do you want to pay yourself, how much profit will you need to be making to pay yourself that salary, what processes/systems do you need to have in place in order to make the business run in a way that suits your lifestyle, team members to bring on board etc, how will you structure your finances (I suggest reading the book Profit First). A big part that plays into all of this is how to make sure your revenue is predictable. Most big companies can forecast their sales for months, even years ahead. It’s actually very feasible to do this as a small online business too, which is why I champion data-driven marketing so much. It’s a lot harder to guess how many people will buy your product after seeing an Instagram story than it is to predict how many will purchase from your email list! I’ll go into all that on a future video, but for now I just want to encourage you to keep learning and implementing. If you desire to work for yourself one day, it’s not as out of reach as it may seem.
